Blarney Castle, Cork, Ireland

The castle originally dates from before 1200, when a timber house was believed to have been built on the site, although no evidence remains of this. Around 1210, this was replaced by a stone fortification.[4] It was destroyed in 1446 but subsequently rebuilt by Cormac Láidir MacCarthy, Lord of Muscry,[5][6] who also built castles at Kilcrea and Carrignamuck.[

Ireland has always been on our travel bucket list. Over the years, as global travel conditions have evolved, personal safety has become a top priority. Consequently, destinations we considered safer—like Ireland—quickly rose to the very top of our list.

To plan our trip, we adapted a 21-day itinerary from a Rick Steves guidebook, trimming it down to 18 days. We decided to spend the first three days exploring Dublin, followed by a driving tour around the island. Using that framework, we finalized our route and mapped out each stop along the way.

Best Regards,

Bill & Joan
