Ireland – 2022

Blarney Castle, Cork Ireland
The castle originally dates from before 1200, when a timber house was believed to have been built on the site, although no evidence remains of this. Around 1210 this was replaced by a stone fortification.[4] It was destroyed in 1446 but subsequently rebuilt by Cormac Láidir MacCarthy, Lord of Muscry,[5][6] who also built castles at Kilcrea and Carrignamuck.[

Ireland has always been on our list of vacation destinations. That list was written many years in the past and the world has changed making personal security a priority. With that in mind countries that we deemed to be less risky, Ireland for example became a favoured destination and rose to the top of our list.
To prepare an itinerary for this trip, we borrowed a 21-day itinerary from one of Rick Steeves guide books and cut it down to 18 days. It was decided that the first three days would be touring around Dublin followed by a driving tour of the island following Rick’s itinerary. From there we built our itinerary and planned the stops we would make along the way.
Best Regards,
