New Zealand – the land of the long white cloud
February 2018
Well after months of planning, searching for accommodation, and booking rooms, or whatever we are now just a few weeks away from the longest part of this journey, the flight to Auckland. We leave on the 22nd and arrive early on the 24th, really early. But, we are looking forward to the journey largely in part because the weather is the opposite of what it is here, warm hopefully very warm.

New Zealand – the land of the long white cloud
Several meanings for Aotearoa have been proposed for the name; the most popular translation usually given is “long white cloud”,[5] Source Wikipedia® Image by ©William van Wyk, 2022
Soon we will start to set aside the things that we will need for the journey. We will try to pack light but given our past journeys, it’s not likely to happen.
We have a full one-month itinerary that will take us all over both the north and south islands. We have a car rented and have reviewed the “How to drive in New Zealand” videos in short “Stay to the Left”..
The first stop is for 2 days in Auckland and then we get a rental car.
Best Regards,
Bill & Joan
