Alice Springs is our next stop on our journey. To get there we decided to fly, as making the trip any other way would have taken too many days. We flew Qantas, our first time and we were very impressed with their service. By comparison, neither of our major airlines came close to the level of service provided on our 2 hr and 50-minute direct flight.
There is a 1/2 hour time zone change between Melbourne and Alice Springs. This will be the first of many time zone changes that we will experience in the coming days. Arriving at Alice Springs and deplaning was simple enough as the flight crew opened both the front and rear doors getting us quickly into the 30C plus temperature on the tarmac. We did not see much of Alice Springs but we were able to take the hotel shuttle to the town centre where we wandered around the streets looking at the sights.
