October 11th & 12th – More sea days
Here the challenge is getting up before lunch, not really as we find ourselves getting up a bit earlier each sea day. With tomorrow’s arrival in Darwin at 10 am we are planning to be up at around 8 am and walk into the city rather than doing one of the over-priced underwhelming tours. Arrival in Darwin finds us changing our watches as we have just move 1/2 ahead. More on this later on the 12th.
The cruise through the great barrier reef area was quite interesting from a scenery standpoint. From aqua coloured waters to red sand beaches the views were outstanding. We saw what I thought was sand brought up from the seafloor but was actually algae that looked much like sawdust. We also noticed that there were smoke plumes rising up from the coastal bush areas, as we cruised along there seemed to be more smoke/fire dotting the shoreline.
