Kimberly Coast

October 15, 2019 – Kimberly Coast, Temperature +27

This morning we are navigating through the Timor sea and heading into the Indian Ocean.

It’s early in the morning and we have made our way along the northwest coast. The Capitan has navigated into the Sound that leads us to an area along the Kimberly coast, a very scenic but extremely remote part of Australia. However, to take in the sights that include the sunrise, the coastline and the moon setting we are up very early at 4:30 am. But, as we have made our way westward along Australia’s northern coast we have also traveled through some time zones that require us to reset our watches several times finally arriving at something like moving the time 1 1/2 hours ahead which makes it seem even earlier. I overheard one passenger commenting the scenery looked better on the tv which might have been a good place to be, in bed looking at the tv.

Many passengers have made the way to the upper decks to watch the sunrise over the distant hills at 5:15 am. The Captain has positioned the ship such that the bow is facing east as the sun rises the ship begins to turn slowly so that the port side is always facing the nearest rock faces which are brightening as the sunrises.

Photography completed; we make our way down to deck seven to start our 1 hour-long walk around the ship. As we make our way, the ship stops turning in a circle announcing our departure of the area and slowly makes our way out of the sound with our destination now being Broome.
