+21, sunny, light winds until we hit the pass when it became very windy.
Onto Glenorchy for a one night stay at a B&B, a fairly short drive but it is not straight nor flat. This drive takes us through a high country pass on some of the tightest and shortest turns yet. Up to the 1120 meter high pass along the Crown Range Route, the winds pick up but are fortunately at our backs. We stopped twice for photo ops but at one it was so windy, I decided to skip the shots because I almost ended up being blown over.
I would have to defer to Joan when describing the scenery because of the steep winding roads. I can say that the glimpses were of some pretty nice countryside.
The rest of the drive was almost uneventful if were not for Lady Garmin sending us on a bit of a wild goose chase in Queenstown. But by ignoring her we made it through and onto our destination.
Once settled, we decide to go on a tramp and tackle a short part of the Routeburn track. Quite an interesting tramp and very different from any others that we had been on.
